So this is my first blog since before the NYC Marathon and my New Year’s resolution is to get back to regular posting. The race was very disappointing to me but I have to take the lessons from it and move on. Ultimately I did a few things wrong in the last few weeks of training and I lacked long term fitness. I had cross trained very hard but you still don’t get the same pounding in your legs.
I came off the race well at least and had good training until the day before Christmas. I was doing a workout back in Michigan (home for the holidays) but it was the first time I had been on a 200m indoor track in probably five years. I think I did a little too much work on the tight turns because after the workout my ankle was sore. I ended up getting an MRI to make sure it was not my Achilles and luckily it was not. I basically strained it though and had to pull out of the XC race in Edinburgh this weekend. I am looking forward though to putting 2010 past me because it was a rough year after such a great 2009. Luckily for me that bad year came in a non-championship year and I am excited to be back and ready for this year’s world championships and the Olympic Games next year. I can’t believe the Olympic Trials marathon is only a year away! 2011 will be a good year though and I promise to get back to weekly blog posts!
