Dathan, Kalin and Addison

Who am I? A lucky guy. Lucky to have found a personal calling – something I love to do and do pretty well – when I was young. Lucky to have a successful career in that calling with a great new coach (Alberto Salazar), a great sponsor (Nike), and a great new group of teammates. But even if running were taken away from me, I would still count myself lucky to have my terrific wife, Kalin, my beautiful daughter, Addison, and the opportunity to travel the world as a family.

The life of a professional distance runner is not always easy. There is a lot of hard work and pressure to perform, it can be monotonous, and there are many setbacks and disappointments. I think I have experienced them all; but the rewards make it all worthwhile. This blog is my place to share many of these highs and lows with you, my fellow runners, with a special focus on my quest to qualify for my third Olympics – London 2012.
