I feel like I am settling nicely into training here in New Mexico but there is one thing that I can’t do as effectively here: long tempo runs. (continue reading…)

I am sitting here in my Normatec MVP in our rental apartment doing therapy for the last push to the ING NYC Marathon on November 7.  We have gone to New Mexico for altitude training and I am very excited for the extra fitness I will gain from being here. (continue reading…)

The Next Opportunity

by on Apr.01, 2010, under Race Updates, Travel

It is always hard to watch from the sidelines. This past weekend was the World Cross Country Championships and waking up to the results on Sunday was a tough pill to swallow. As I was looking through the results all I could think was “I could have won this race”! Looking through the top guys in the field I know knew that I had beaten all of them in my previous races, and I am a great XC runner to go along with it. NXN

I have only one more trip to make tomorrow and we will be all set up here. The only thing now is to sell our house! Not much interest in it so far, so if you want a house great house in Eugene, you can have it. (continue reading…)

by on Jul.28, 2009, under Travel

Hello everyone from one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Switzerland is amazing. It is like a combination of Oregon and Colorado, huge mountains but beautiful green everywhere. It makes it a little easier leaving the family when you are in a setting like this. I have to admit, though, that I wasn’t feeling like that yesterday. I hate the long travel from the west coast to Europe, but it was even worse when we had to take an hour train ride when we got here. On top of that our train broke down in the middle of the mountains. By the time I got here I was exhausted but still had to go for a run. The feeling soon wore off, though, as I went for a short shakeout around the lake and was amazed. I could not help but think of how lucky I am to be able to do this for a living. (continue reading…)
